People with IQs in the 83rd percentile are not bright. As I write for people who generally have far higher IQs than that , they would regard that as dumb.

Over the years, I've gotten to know many of my readers, some of whom have been reading me for more than a decade (on various sites). Most of them are gifted, so I generally assume that my readers are way ahead of average, and they are certainly way ahead of the 83rd percentile.

I guess I always assume that my readers are gifted.

Most people I know range from about 135 to 185.
