One of the things that shocked the hell out of me when arriving in America waa the way Americans asked one deeply personal questions or wanted to speak about contentious questions.

It put me in very vulnerable positions - over and over again. One of the many reasoms I am glad I don't live there anymore.

Now writing and reading about things is very different. Everybody should read widely. Sadly, only about 5% of the population reads to any worthwhile degree.

The result is that most people just parrot what they hear others say, and most of that is wrong.

I certanly leaen from reading widely? From discussion? Not a thing. I find that people endlessly repeat what they hear their particular tribe say. Less than useless.

All of that is very different to having freedom of the presd. That no longer exists.
