One of the most interesing things I've ever read was from a divorce lawyer many years ago. She said that when men got divorced, they thought, "Thank god, I won't be drained financially anymore," And when women got divorced, they thought, "Thank god, I won't be emotionally drained anymore."

She also pointed out that nobody loves unconditionally - that each marries the other because they meet certain conditions - they are attractive, they have certain skills, they have a certain type of personality. When those things are no longer there, the agreement is broken, and they get divorced.
