One of the most fascinating things I did was have my DNA done by 23&me. What I learnt was that, genetically, AmericanJews only had 1 or 2% Jewish genes. Intermarriage has done away with it.

My own DNA is 50% Ashenazi Jew, 90% French/German, 6- 8 % Irish/British and .6% Somali.

Ashkezani Jews come from Turkey - not Israel. I also have a stack of blood relatives in New York that I have never met. I can see it on the ancesteral diagram. You can see the names.
