Now if Latin were the only way to understand those things, and if it was the easiest way to understand those things, then it might have some merit. But it actually is not.

I was reading Greek, Roman, and Egyptian mythology and history long before I studied Latin. And I was published long before I studied Latin. Latin did not teach me a single thing that I did not already know and was not familiar with.

What you're doing is simply repeating what you've been conditioned to believe - that there is some use in studying Latin. I can learn the etymology of a word without studing Latin. It seems that one has to climb a mountain to understand a mole hill.
