Not true. I earn four figures mostly. This month I'm donw to $650, but so are most of us who earn our living through Medium.

That's not doable on Vocal Media I have been earning my living as a writer on the web for a very long time, and I've written for many content sites since 1999. Most of them eventually go under.

In the real world, only articles that are people would want to read are paid. Try submitting to Time magazine and see if your article is accepted. Time magazine does not pay everybody who submits an article 2 cents a world. No magazine or newspaper does. One actually had to have something worth reading to be paid.

So, no, every 'writer' on Medium should not be paid 2 cents a word.

Being paid $3.38 or $6 per 1000 views is not worth it. I'm not sure what Vocal Media means by views, but a view on Medium is just a bounce. It means that Medium presented your article to someone, but the someone wasn't interested in reading it. A bounce is worthless - even on Vocal Media, so I must assume they mean read.

If you had a 1000 reads on Medium, I can assure you that you would earn a lot more. On average, for a 1000 reads, I earn somwhere between $40 and $80. That's one helluve difference. Obviously it depends on how long people are reading for.
