Not quite sure what to say to that. Tony is saying that in order to counter the idea that everybody can earn a living here.

Writing is an oversubscribed occupation. For instance, in the States, 5% of people read regularly but 84% of people want to be writers. Fifty percen of Americans have blogs (or something like that). There simply aren't enough readers to make it profitable for publishers to pay every writer.
