Nope. The lecture was during WWII, and there was no thought of the USSR being the enemy. Without the Soviets, it's quite possible that the war would have been lost. They made the greatest contribution towards winning (you can google that), and they were the first in Berlin (my late father's birth place). My father was Jewish.
I wish I could ask him why he said that. He was highly intelligent. IQ 185 and very well educated. He was also president of the astronomical society and engineering society, and he witnessed the first rocket experiments in Berlin in the 30s.
I wonder if he read Marx and saw what Marx said about capitalism, and he saw some sort of conflict as a result of that. The fact is we have yet to evolve a good economic (system of production and distribution) that works for everybody and doesn't harm any. Perhaps it will happen in time.
I just went back to read the dictionary meaning of fascism. it says. "Fascism is a form of far-right, authoritarian ultranationalism characterized by dictatorial power, forcible suppression of opposition, and strong regimentation of society and of the economy, which came to prominence in early 20th-century Europe." Isn't that what the far-right is wanting in the States? And isn't that what is evolving now in several countries?
Germany has a strong far right (I left Germany a few days ago for Portugal) and so does France, I think.
