Nope, readers do not engage in a read for read deal. It is not possible for someone with 48000 reads for one story to go and read the work of 48000 other writers.
Medium has also publicly stated that they don't encourage that. If course they can't stop it, but they won't boost that writer either. They will have a black mark against them for eternity.
When one is talking about a read for read methodology, how many numbers are involved? Five? Ten? Twenty? Hundred?
What do they earn? $5 per month?
I am not 'engaging' Mitch. I am 72 years old. I am writing a letter to the editor expressing my view about an article I have read. It is what readers do.
Most of my followers are readers - not writers. I always check when someone adds me. They are the people who never write a story, donate frequently, give me one clap if they approve (or not). The only people who give me 50 claps are other writers.
As Medium has now said - only one clap counts.
