No, we are intelligent because we are able to use logic to arrive at a conclusion. I did not say that intelligence was the ability to recognise another person with the same level of intellince.
The article was about how to recognize people who are extremely intelligent. Yes, in order to recognise it, one has to be on the same level or greater.
How would you be able to follow the liine of reasoning if you were not capable of the same line of reasoning?
Let's take an IQ test paper - which is pure logic. There are 40 people doing the test. Most people only get half the questions right. They recogise when other people get the same answers right, but they are not be able to tell which answers are right or wrong in the rest of the paper because they do not have the intelligence to work it out for themselves.
So the only people in the room who can recognise who got all the logic right were the people who got all the logic right.
