No, it actually doesn't. People who insist on writing about their own lives, or about other people on Medium, and who constantly moan about this and that, do not make any money through writing. That is NOT supposed to be what writing is about.

If you want to be a writer, then you have to write according to what readers want to read. Read my Born to Write magazine.
