No idea who he is, so I googled him and found someone who wrote something called 'gonzo journalism,' which I googled which said, "Gonzo journalism is a style of reporting where the author is part of the story rather than removed and unseen like traditional journalism."

From that I would say that he started the downward spiral of journalism, and it is probably why American has no real objective journalistic practices.
