No, he actually didn't. He said things like "Let him who is without sin throw the first stone." That requires contemplation and thought. Not feelings.
He said, "Seek he first the kingdom of god and righteousness..." Nothing to do with feelings.
He said, "let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds ..."
He said, "Do to others as you would have them do to you."
etc.
The rest of the time he was busy telling the people that he was god. :) Um.
It's your Catholic Church that is telling you that, and it never taught that a century ago. Culture infects ideology and dogma.
