Can you give me a source for where the UK and the US only had the USSR as a convenient ally? I'd be interested in that. Both my parents were veterans during WWI, so I heard a lot about it growing up, and, of course, I studied it in history. But that's not something I learnt. I would make sense, though, as Russia just suddenly decided to wall off her quarter of Germany.
