I think that the one thing that really hit me when I moved from the third world to the first world was how easy it is to do things in the first world compared to the first world.

I used to read American self-help books and I used to diligently apply everything I read. Apart from that, I'm naturally disciplined and hardworking anyway. I do tend to have the respect of people who know me, probably because I have a good brain.

That said, a lot of whether one gets something right has to do with the community (country) one is in, and that is something that is never mentioned.
