Nine Months Later, I’m Giving Birth to My New Serial

I’ve been threatening for nine entire months that I will be switching to fiction. It’s taken me that long to lay out the structure of two books and one series. The one book concerns political and economic structures (non-fiction), the other is about an alien nation overcoming humanity through sex (fiction), and the third, this series, is about man-eating plants.

I guess, in some ways, I’m an Asimov baby, so my new series has much of the ethos of that grand old master (my sister and I cried when he died — he reminded us so much of our own father). Yes, the story, as in the title, is definitely about plants that do not have mankind’s best interests at heart, but me being me, into that story slides climate change, disintegrating political systems, human nature, and more. What can I say? Once a political junkie, always a political junkie.

I was originally going to publish every second day, then I realized that with seven days in the week, one would never know which day it was due. So I settled for new chapters on Monday morning, Wednesday morning, and Friday evening. That’s my time. That would mean 11 am my time would be 6 am New York time. If I publish at 7 pm on Fridays (my time), it would be 2 pm New York time…
