Never even remotely occurred to me. And I serioIusly doubt it occurred to my late father.

I write because I have something to say, and while I do have to earn, I really don't care if people read me or not. I care that the planet is saved from climate change, that the economic system is outlawed and replaced with one that is sustainable for all.

I went back to college in my 50s. I decided to do a journalism class. The professor set us an assignment to write about some event in our lives. I refused. He couldn't understand it. He said everybody loved to write about themselves.

And that's why so many people are drawn to writing. They are just looking for attention, an easy way of earning big bucks, etc. They are not analysts of the deep seated problems of our world.
