Neither socialism nor communism infringe on the liberties of the people. Facism and totalitarianism do. The reason that some people are muddled up about that is because in countries that have socialism, they also have facism and totalitarianism.

Communism has never existed. It is when there is no government - only people living in clusters owning everything collectively.

Every country in the world is part socialist. It means that the government owns either all or some of the means of production. When the army makes something, that is socialism. When the government owns the water, that is socialism. It is not inherently bad.
