My point was that 'new writers' have their writing promoted to readers, and the last thing readers want to read are 'new writers.
By 'new writers,' I do not mean someone who is new to Medium. Someone can be new to Medium but be a professional writer who has been writing full time for decades. What I mean si someone who is not a professional writer, and who has very little of interest to say. That is the majority of writing that is now being pushed on Medium.
People who are readers (like me) are accustomed to reading professional magazines - Time, The Atlantic, The Economist, etc. These were all available on Medium until recently. That's why we signed up - we didn't sign up to learn how to write.
