My late mother, born 1925, worked all her life. She didn't have to. I grew up in a home with 3 live-in servants, and then went to a private boarding school. My mother, in addition to racing cars, was a member of numerous associations where the other members were men. In addition, I was quite accustomed to women working in their husband's businesses or some other job.
Growing up in the 60s, all I heard about women's lib was that Women were burning their bras. I couldn't think of anything more stupid. It was uncomfortable not to wear a bra
I also had no career ambitions, hate working because I prefer to do things without worrying about money. I also dislike been forced to socialize with other people just because I was working with them. Ironically, I was always excellent at any job I did, but always left because other women wanted to gossip or I had to go to office lunches, etc
Internationally, depending on the country, between 75% and 95% of people (both male and female) hate their jobs.
I always only wanted to get married and go to balls... :) That never happened.
As far as I can see, yes, feminism does only apply to upper middle class women and rich women. Far from being happy with what they already have, they continue to scream about their lack of equality. It bemuses me.
There is no such thing as equality of and for all people. For every CEO, there are thousands of people who are not. For every doctor, there are five dozen office cleaners.
And so on.
I have no truck with feminism. Nobody ever stopped my mother from doing anything. And nobody ever stopped other working mothers from doing anything. Not in my circles anyway.
However, my life would have been very different if I had actually had a stay at home mother who invested in bringing up her children
