So yesterday I went to the dermatologist…

Hi guys,

Thank you for bearing with me during a very difficult month. Yesterday, I finally got to see someone about the big ‘growth’ underneath my arm. It turns out that it wasn’t a wart. It was a very big cyst — in fact, it wasn’t one cyst. It was three cysts, all on top of each other or so close one couldn’t differentiate.

The nurse who opened it and removed it (under anesthetic) didn’t see the second and third until she had removed the first, and she didn’t see the third until she removed the second. It was bizarre. She kept telling me it was all fixed up, and then she would look again, and say, “No, there’s another one.”

I now have a very big hole and lots of loose skin. It’s very weird. It was a bit sore last night after the anesthetic wore off, but this morning, it’s okay. I’m not supposed to let any water near it for three days, and I can remove the bandage on day four. She says that the biggest danger now is infection.

I’m glad that’s over.

I’m still not out of the woods with my back. I did, however, make some changes. I ordered a lap-tray from Ikea so that I could write while lying on my bed. This has made the world of difference. As you can see, I’ve written a few articles during the last week.
