I love old places. It's why I decided to return to Europe, even though there was a language barrier. Fortunately, there are a lot of Brits in Portugal, and, unlike Germany, most people here can say a few words in English.

I've had some difficult moments, though. Trying to buy a bath plug, and explaining to shop keepers what I wanted, was not easy. Evenutally, I drew a picture! Then I found out that old homes that are centuries old don't have conventional bath plugs, and for some reason, they don't sell the one size fits all! :)
