My bio states quite clearly that I am an atheist. It is there so that people who have beliefs in non-existent gods can pass me by.
My bio also states that I am a progressive. It is there so that people who are not progressive can pass me by.
I do not write to influence other people. I would never presume to be so unethical that I think I have a right to try to dissaude other people from their beliefs.
I don't believe that Jesus ever existed. I believe he was probably a concoction of people who lived and a myriad stories that got exaggerated by a primitive people.
I have never felt any higher calling, do not have an ounce of spirituality about me, because I don't believe there is such a thing as spirituality.
I do, however, firmly believe that there is a right and there is wrong. These rights and wrongs are determined logically by examinging the effect of one's actions on others. The greater the number of destruction, the longer it lasts, the greater the wrong. And visa versa in relations to good.
As for my writing being tainted by my putdown of religious beliefs, well, my life was destroyed by people with religious beliefs, and as I've been published for 60 years on three continents, and as I earn my living as a writer, I'll take my chances.
