Much easier way of doing this.

In April last year, Ev started paying out $500 bonuses to the top 1000 writers. That meant the top writers who earned the most nomey (in April). There were 1000 of us. That meant that as I earned only $118 that month, there are very, very few writers earning more than $100 per month. My figure that I got from elsewhere is 5%.

I continued to win the $500 for the next three months.

My monthly incomes (excluding the $500) were

I think there are very, very few people on Medium who are actually earning over $100 per month.

It also ties in with my previous experience on other sites. Generally the site only rewards the top 5% of writers. i.e the writers that bring in traffic.

I also think there has been a recent redistribution. Many high earners are earning something like 10% of what they previously earned. So that extra money is going to newbie writers. It is now much easier to earn.
