Most people will not follow them to their sites. Some will. Most won't.
That said, I have never seen Wildfire as a doomer. What I have seen is both Umair and the lady manipulate readers emotionally, using a longform advertising methodology to get people to respond. I find it unethical.
I have, also, several times, checked their data. Turns out it isn't always factual.
I stopped reading either for several reasons.
1. I don't like people appealing to my emotions rather than my intellect
2. I don't like people playing victim which Jessica does.
3. I didn't like Umair's 'solution.' Mystical mumbo jumbo. He has now gone back into the branding business. I am not a fan of branding.
I wish them both luck, but I had up to 1.5 million reads day on Google Plus, and that did not follow me anywhere. I have seen the same story elsewhere
Also, I found it interesting that in the years that Umair did well, he had nothing to say to his readers. Once Medium removed their favouritism from him, he suddenly started speaking to his readers - telling them how wonderful they are, and that he can't do this without them.
I took a look at Jessica's figures on Ko-fi. Not getting much support from her readers.
I also plan to open a website, Steven, but not based on my name. I bought several domain names before people got savvy. I am going to go with 'SurviveClimateChange.
I am betting that the domain name will play well with the SEO. Once that is up and running, I will branch into affiliate marketing (I still earn a small bit from various stories written a dozen or more years ago.
Google wrote to me that they were closing my AdSense account about a year ago, but said they would open it again, if I wZnt it
Yes, I will still retain a brochure site for my name. But I have never thought my name meaningful. It's the content writing sites that give you the power. I witnessed the same thing with the people who had millions of followers on Twitter and then couldn't get 10k elsewhere.
