Like the time I was living in Houston, and this guy tells me he is going to move to Greece. I ask him if he is immigrating. He says yes. I ask him how he got in. He doesn't understand the question. He tells me he hasn't gone yet. I ask him if he has a visa. He says no. I ask him if he has a passport. He says no.

I think for a moment. Perhaps he has family, and he speaks Greek?

No.

It turns out he thought Greeks spoke English, and all he had to do was fly there.

Most Americans have no idea what immigration requires - a bucket full of money, outstanding, rare qualifications, and a high score on the points system.

You also missed a bullet. Portugal is a shitty country. Lisbon is best. Porto - not so much. Algarve is overrated.

Spain is lovely. Germany too much bureaucracy. South American countries are easier to get into.
