Let's see. I have a degree and one inch of qualificationjs. I have been a computer programmer in the days of mainframe. I have been a headhunter of CEOs and executive engineers. I have been a casino dealer, dealing half a dozen games on three continents. I have been an editor, a writer, an interior designer, a decorator, and more than I can tell you.
Unfortunately, I also am autistic. I have Asperger's Syndrome. I also had the misfortune of being a stunningly beautiful woman who grew up exposed to chronic abuse for 42 years.
All these things had an impact on my lfie - a hugely negative one. It didn't help growing up in a country where television was banned. There were many, many factors.
I continued to educate myself throughout my life.
When I arrived in America, I was offered numerous jobs as a writer - some without pay, and some with minimum pay. I was in my early 50s. I had already been published for 40 years. If you look at my writing reviews, I am acknowledged and have been acknowledged for a life time as a brilliant writer.
I am probably in the top 3% to 1% of writers in terms of earning on Medium.
I am now 71. My social security is $212 per month.
I had to look after a disabled kid with 2 massive disabilities with no support from anyone - not emotional, not physical, and not financial.
Your view of what causes people to earn so little is massively limited by your lack of life experience and intelligence.
Incidentally, I'm gifted.
