Just curious. Have you read Daniel Goleman's book? And, yes, of course, words can mean anything one wants them to if one is not required to stick to the dictionary meaning.

I'm defining emotional intelligence the way that Goleman and the entire EQ movement defines it. People are hired with 'high' EQ so that they can get along with others, sell to them, control them, etc. Psychopaths have high EQ.

Emotional intelligence is NOT necessary for emotional maturity. They have nothing to do with each other. If I'm wrong, please provide the psychological research. I don't believe things that don't have a scientific basis.
