James, I am fully aware of what philosophy is. I understand the logic and all the bs that goes with it. I studied it. I also studied religion. I stopped studying that stuff in my early 50s when I realized that none of it was helpful. About the only thing that fits is I'm a bit of a nihilist, and probably the one person I respect is Alain de Botton from the London school of life. He gives a lot of classes of philosophy.

You were the one that said that people are still following their dreams - I merely pointed out that they might have been following their dreams in America, but in the rest of the world we were more about duty.

In addition, I pointed that that we did not have the means to destroy the world the way we have now. We did not ahve mega-tons of nuclear bombs. We did not have biological warfare. We did not have the degree of carbon dioxide and methane in the air.

Perhaps I drew the wrong conclusion, but to my way of reasoning anyone who thinks that, based on the evidence, we are going to survive because humanity always has, forgets that right now we're in the middle of the 6th mass extinction. And the mighty dinosaurs died out as well.
