I've thought about this for a few hours. I think the biggest problem is that people simply don't want to lower their standard of living, and they don't want to do without, and they want to keep up with the Jones's, and they're all following their dreams, and nobody is concerned about climate change, cleaning up the pollution, banning profit, implementing public transport, etc.
