It's actuallhy the other way round. As an atheist, I know that I am absolutely worthless, that my life has no meaning beyond what I give to it, that I am a microdot in the cosmos, that when I die, there will be no coming back. Atheists realize how precious life is, and how much it is to be valued precisely because we know there is no God't that gives up a hyped up value.
Humanists and atheists tend to be humble people. People who believe in gods tend to be arrogant because they've been chosen by god to be saved, and they therefore consider themselves superior.
I spent decades of my life with these people in many different churches, and it is universal. Yes, of course, there are exceptions,There are always exceptions, but it is generally true that if someone thinks he was chosen by god or god will reward him for something, he is suffering from one massive delusion, but his ego and sense of self-importance is inflated.
