Interestingly, in the early to mid 30s, in Berlin, some Jews did try to warn other Jews to get out. Many Jews said "We are Germans first, and Jews second." My aunt, uncle and cousin died at Auschwitz.
In South Africa, my parents also fought apartheid, my late mother being a founder member of the BlackSash.
