In the days that I was an evangelical Christian, I came to know that these people were not only stupid and ignorant (regardless of any university education), but there was a malice about them. They gossiped about others. They enjoyed power over others. They destroyed people who they were envious of, and more.

I am convinced that people who join evangelical churches do so because they have a guilty conscience, and they desperately need 'forgiveness' because they are scared of going to hell.

The dogma that all one has to do is ask Jesus for forgiveness gives them an easy out to continue to behave like the savages they are.
