In about 2005, I had a gutful of it. I took three years to pay off all my credit cards, and I've been living on a cash basis every since. I learnt to do without.

One of the unexpected outcomes of this was that over a period of time, my name disappeared from various databasis. No more junk mail. No more advertising. :)
