I'm not sure when America legalized lobbying, but it's state capture, and that is a form of corruption in which corporations and busines (or other interests) are allowed to influence politicians for their own benefit.

I don't believe that the rot set in with Trump. Trump was a result of the rot setting in a long time before that. That includes Bill Clinton - a slime ball if I ever saw one.
