I'm not sure that I could ever live off the grid. Perhaps if there was a man to take care of some of the heavy items, but not really.

I also think that I would need electricity, and whether it is a solar panel or a generator, these things are the products of civilisation, so it's not really living off the grid.

The town I live in has about 28,000 people. The street I live in is directly opposite some woods which are a bit like a rain forest. It's a minute's walk from my front door. I live in a cottage which is part of string of about 15 cottages, one after the other. No one else around.

We do, however, have rubbish collection, and electricity, and a five minute bus ride to a shopping centre.

This, to me, is a slow enough pace, with mother nature at my door, quiet, but also modern facilities nearby.
