I'm curious why you think he wasn't a good writer. I think literary writers need to be eliminiated. Fortunately, they sell so few books these days that literary publishers are rethinking their business model.

Do you know who buys literary books? Universities and schools. Do you know why only 5% of the population reads? Because education institutions insisted that people read the garbage written by people who want to write about the human condition (that is what literary ficiton is). They write pretentious crap.

So why isn't Michael Crichton a good writer. His books kept me glued. And I have yet to find any literary writer that has done the same. I used to force myself to read them. Ugh. I will never put myself through that again.
