I'm afraid I have rather a short memory, and I vaguely remember someone explaining to me what gamfying is. I think I did say that I thought it was a good idea.

I'm confused about what you think support is. Do you think that I must promote your ideas?

I've had a few people come to Medium and want me to promote their ideas. Some have become extremely angry that I won't. Others have written articles about me because I won't let them use my platform to promote their ideas.

I am a professional writer. I earn my living as a writer. I am not promoting anything - not my stores, not myself, nothing. I don't aim to influence others because I think it's unethical. I expect people to read widely and to make their own decisions. I supply reading material, which people are welcome to read or not.

So, please run this by me again. How were you expeccting me to support you, and how is it you support me?

If you think you are supporting me by reading what I write, you are mistaken. Readers read for their pleasure - not in order to to support me in some way.

If you expect me to read your stories just because you are reading mine, I think you had better speak to James Patterson and ask him why he isn't reading the work of his millions of readers. Do you honestly expect me to read the work of the 4300 people who are following me? Where would I find the time?

If you're expecting me to promote your ideas, that is unreasonable, and it's out of touch with reality. I have a lot of ideas. Most people have. None of us expect other people to help us.

Some people are lucky. They have rich parents, and they can get money from their parents to help them. Most of us aren't. So we accept that our ideas will never become reality.

Here are some of my ideas.

1. Create an enormous website with accurate information about all the products on earth. That way advertisers can't mislead people.

2. Create entertaining video apps for history and geography, so that people find those easy subjects to learn.

3. Create dating sites that actually go only by interests and values, and make them free.

I have a million ideas. I don't expect anyone to provide me money or help in getting them done. I'm gobsmacked by your response.

Please explain it to me.
