If you're expecting less from the students, then, yes, the curriculum is being dumed down.

When I went to college in the USA in my mid-50s, I was relearning stuff that I learnt in Grade s 3 and 4 South Africa between 1961 and 1962.

Repeatedly, college professors were in fault, and I constantly went to the chair. In four years, I never lost a fase. The professor was, indeed, wrong. (My geology professor is excluded. He was brilliant.)
