If you scroll, in the link below, to the third review and after that, these reviews were for written debates was part of in 2008.
About half the people were totally against what I said, and for them to write what they did, is actually quite a feather in my cap.
It is, however, not something I enjoy. I deeply resent having to explain myself when I have made my posiition quite clear in my arguments. More to the point, I do not write a single essay without slanting them directly to all the opposition arguments.
There is nothing on this earth that would ever motivate me to engage in debate again. I do, on occasion, respond to people here. Invariable, however, I lose it, and I eventually block people.
I respond only because I don't want to have my readers mislead. I went through hell believing all the nonsense that popular culture teaches, and I will not allow people to use my thread to advance those ideologies.
The problem is that some people do not want to stop. I deflect one point. Instead of accepting it, they'll come up with something else. And something else. And something else. They appear to have no respect for my time, and I do not know whether it is that they enjoy argument, or whether they have so few friends and so little to do that they will spend hours in a 'debate,' or whether they're absolutely determined to win at any cost.
From my point of view, apart from my refusal to let false ideologies be available for others to read on my stream, I have no other reason to partake in debate.
And it is not because I'm not good at it. It is just draining and unsatisfying.
