If you care to, google Charmaine Schlesinger on youtube. She is still dancing like a stage performer in her 60s. The photos of me on the web are mostly late 50s and mid through late 60s.
I am very much afraid, though, that my sister and I are aging disgracefully. I will be 70 this year and she will be 68.
Genetically, we are lucky, but we have also both avoided destructive living habits for a lifetime as well.
We wear diamante on our faces, long hair, lipstick and green eyeliner, and occasionally a misplaced tiara in our hair. Where is the fun in aging if we don’t get to do all the things that we can now do because nobody cares what old women do?
That said, neither of us regrets that we no longer get invited to fly in the cockpit of a plane when travelling. There are losses, certainly, but age, if one has never stopped learning, brings its own compensations.
