I would only ever use web based mail because, in the old days, when you moved from a provider, you lost all your emails that were with that provider.

I most certainly don't wish to pay for email, and you leave out whether one has to pay for Migadu.

I also don't care about ads (I seldom notice them), and I just ignore all the added stuff that gmail gives. I open my emails and send emails. That's it. Everything else I ingore, so I'm unsure of what you are talking about here. I see no difficulties.
