I was stunned when I arrived in the US in 2003 to find that all the history I had learnt living in the rest of the world was out of touch with American revisionism.

The USSR contributed the most in terms of winning WWII. The British Empire was also alive and well during that time. Historians and others have figured that without the US contribution, the Allies would have won WWII anyway - just two years later.

Until I arrive in the States, I had no idea it was the 'leader of the free world.' In fact, technologically, it was behind in terms of the web. (I arrived from the UK). When I left the US and went back to the UK, the UK was again ahead of the US in that it already had 5G.

I've now read a few of your articles. I think it would add greatly to your perspective if you lived for a year in the EU, a year in Africa, and a year in India or Aussie. :)
