I was put right off in the second sentence. Place comes before time. It shoud read “in our apartment one morning. “I was kneading dough to make pooris for my boyfriend one morning in our apartment in Washington D.C.”

Virtually all the work selected is of a poor standard. The only people who will think that any of it are any good are those who are neither writers nor readers — just wannabes.

I have no idea what Ev Williams thought he was doing — maybe he was trying to be compatible with the zeitgeist of the times.
