I was first published in 1962/3. This idea that one needs an area of expertise to be a writer isn't true. I can write about anything and everything, and I always have. So did my late father. So did numerous of my colleages in days gone by.

A writer is supposed to be able research information, understand it, and then write it. That's what journalists do. They write about different things all the time. They're not experts in anything.
