I was born into apartheid, lived under it, had no comprehension of what was happening in the outside world because we didn't have a free press. I saw a television for the first time when I was 25. Then we had sanctions and we couldn't buy things, and we were even more cut off. Africans then became even poorer, and slowly the world descended into chaos. South Africa has been on a downward trend ever since. I expect it will soon be another Zimbabwe.

Then there are the Germans born after WWII. I can't imagine that their lives would have been easier. Also the Japanese trying to recover from Hiroshima and Negasaki.

I think he is talking about people in America.
