I was always out of step with my generation (boomers). I knew about climate change in 1970. I was sort of influenced to buy a car in 1976, and I couldn't understand why anyone would want me to buy a car when I was fine with public transport. I sold the car 2 years later and was without a car for another few years. Then I bought one again in 1985 and sold it in 1999.

When I got a a sponsorship to immigrate to the states, the condition was that I buy a car. So I bought a car in 2003 and sold it in 2009. So in my 72 years, I have owned and operated a car 22 years.

I have resented every penny and every year of it. I have not had a car since 2009 and will never have one again.
