I think you've summed it up beautifully. Like you, I need an English speaking library (Germany and Portugal did not work for me, so now I'm in Ireland.) I also sold my car in San Diego more than a decade ago, and I swore blind I would never buy one again. Since then I have lived in six countries and I've been able to use public transport.

Medical is difficult, and I'm 70 now. Hoping that I can work that out somehow. I think I'm settled now. Of course, if things reach a point where I can't afford to live here, that will be difficult.

I have the advantage of having dual nationality (European passport) and that is what made this possible for me.
