I think you've applied criteria to me that might fit with some others, but they definitely don't fit with me.

1. I'm not successful. Yes, I've been told for a lifetime that I'm an incredible writer - as per my about section on Medium. However, I only count success as financial success, and so I have never been financially successful.

2. "Success for me, but not for thee." Is that the only think that you can think of? I get irritated having something served up to me to read, and then discover that the person hasn't written to a publishable standard. It wastes my time, and I suppose, being autistic, I have an immediate response.

3. It's not the job of writers to encourage other writers. . There is n law in any country that says if one is a writer, one has to encourage other writers. I don't know where this nonsense comes from. I don't see doctors encouraging other doctors or CEOs encouraging other CEOs.

4. Only .3% of people in America are published writers. 84% of Americans want to be writers. 5% are readers, i.e. they read at least a book a week. This is why the math doesn't work.

5. I do not believe that there is anything that is a beginner writer. I think that there are lots of people who want to be writers. The internet gives them a chance to write. The fact that most people can jig in time on the dance floor doesn't make them dancers.

6. I'm not sitting in judgement of anybody. I have a very genuine opinion that writing is a talent, and it has several components to it. One has to have all those components in order to be successful as a writer - including wanting to market one's work - which I have never done.

One last thing. Why are you so upset about what I say? You aren't the author of the piece. I've just noticed. You've got 38 followers, and you haven't written a thing. Is this because you want to be a writer, and you believe that what I'm saying is meant to stop you from writing?

If so, you're somewhat mistaken.

Please feel free to write.
