I think you’re talking about status. According to Alain de Botton (London school of life) some, 95% of people think about their status first thing after they wake up in the morning — it’s that important to them.

However, victimhood has nothing to do with status. It has to do with being socialized to believe that all one’s difficulties are due to other people mistreating one, and they have a sort of vicious anger to those that they perceive mistreat them — even when they aren’t mistreated.
